WHO ARE YOU?Who are you? - Have you ever asked yourself that question? A friend of mine asked me the same question and for the first time in my life, I realised I didn't know who I was. I was searching my head for the right answers but none came forth. If you attempted to answer the question and all your answers were related to how much(financially) you are worth, how many kids, cars, houses and businesses you have, then you do not know who you are. All those mentioned above are blessings from God. You can think of them as attachments but they don't define you. If I am asked the same question today, my answer would be:
I am a Christian. I am the son of God. I am the son of the King of kings. I prosper and succeed in everything I do. I am the head and not the tail. I am supreme over the affairs of life. The Holy Spirit is my friend, guide, advocate and counsellor. I am made in the image and likeness of God so I function and operate like God. I have the mind of Christ always knowing what to do in every situation. God's favour and presence abides with me always. I function in the perfect will of God for my life. I am the light of the world, the salt of the earth. I am here to make changes and not to conform to the ways of the world. I have authority and dominion over all of creation through Christ Jesus. I am born again and possess the gift of salvation.
These are just a few taken out of my long list of definitions of whom I am. I have them written down in a book and recite them daily. I remind myself of who I am about twice a day, pacing in my room or while walking on the street.
When you define yourself based on attachments, you will feel less of an individual when you don't have them. You will also feel less of an individual when you are amongst those that have more possessions than yourself. You will be oppressed or feel insulted when people call you names. If someone insults me or tells me "I am a failure and will never amount to anything.", I just smile and tell myself that I am destined to be great not by choice but by God's divine purpose. This different understanding of who I am has changed my mindset for only what God and the Bible says about me matter. So I once again, I ask you, "who are you?". You might want to pray about it and ask God to tell you.
Prayer point:- Lord God Almighty, please reveal to me who I am. Make known to me the purpose of my creation.
